– “Rekindled Heart” – a poem by Mike Gates
Warmth of the day gives way to the cold of night.
Shades of green glisten as snow upon the ground begins to thaw.
A quickening chill, midnight frost filling the air.
The landscape repainted, dense fog unclear.
Shadows of seasons vapor and change,
creating new colors and depth, rearranged.
Hear birds begin to chirp; see flowers flourish from the rain.
Growth once pruned, now bears fruit renewed.
Wake up, awaken, the year has slipped by.
Set ablaze my heart, alive again in Christ, my joyful cry.
Winter may linger, but not for very long.
The sun has risen; Spring sings of a new song.
Song of Solomon 2:10-12 ESV:
10 My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, 11 for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. 12 The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
Hosea 6:3 NET:
3 So let us search for him! Let us seek to know the Lord! He will come to our rescue as certainly as the appearance of the dawn, as certainly as the winter rain comes, as certainly as the spring rain that waters the land.
