– Pioneering Destiny – a poem by Mike Gates
Dreams begin, a heart’s cry to send.
The pioneer awakens to a sound that beckons.
With hands to the plow, paving a way, clearing the path, not looking back.
Onward unto a new frontier, bravery rises, fear will not end their story.
One step it takes, a leap of faith, to wander in wonder, God’s will fuel’s the fire.
Meandering thoughts, as Holy Spirit leads, mind at peace, on a mission seldom sought.
Eye’s fixed ahead, look beyond the horizon, into uncharted unknowns, prophetic vision grows.
Journeys long, work seems hard, despite the struggle and pain, overcoming obstacles, you made it through another day.
Strength of His hand has carried you on, a sigh of relief, sojourners do seek, now rest.
Well done He says, you answered the call, blazing a trail, strengthened your pace.
Obedience rewarded, the fruit of your labor, from generation to generation, faith never wavered.
Hope for those who now travel on the same road, not having to carry as much of a heavy load.
Dreams never end, inspiring more to send.
Mike’s notes: I am a first-generation pastor. In my ministry I have had to do a lot of pioneering and plowing. I had plenty of pastors but never a mentor. Many times, thankfully, I have the Holy Spirit who helped guide and lead me into the calling God gave me. This poem is for the pioneer’s, the forerunners, the dreamers, and the seers. The ones who refuse to give up their prophetic dreams. For the overcomers, those who continue to push, to plow, to break through every barrier and obstacle the enemy tries to ensnare. To those who have not lost their focus, the ones who lead and inspire. The ones who yearn to hear the words, “well done good and faithful servant” from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Pioneer your destiny, leave a legacy, you have the victory!
Luke 9:57-62 NKJV – 57 Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.” 58 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 59 Then He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” 61 And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” 62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Isaiah 6:8 NKJV – 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
